Our Story
Sonny's Thrift, Trade and Art started because of the overwhelming amount of donations being received through another ministry organization that were not useful to the homeless population on the street.
However, the items would be put to very good use in a thrift store.
OR… Update trending career clothing just by bringing in those nearly new items and receive store credit to shop for a whole new fashion wardrobe at Sonny’s.
Sonny’s will also carry school uniforms and medical scrubs.
Sonny’s Thrift will work with local Community Ministry Leaders to pick up items like dishes, pots and pans, bedding, or furniture for their clients who have just received housing.
Sonny’s will also carry hygiene items, underwear and socks to distribute directly to the homeless out in the streets.
Sonny's Thrift, Trade and Art needs a building. A building similar to Goodwill to accommodate the ongoing donations so everyone can come in to shop and take advantage of all Sonny's has to offer. A building will also allow Sonny's to have art classes, bible classes and room rentals for baby or bridal showers with a focus on Christian fellowship in the community.
Volunteers
Sonny’s will encourage volunteers to include high school students working towards fulfilling community hour requirements, adults with disabilities to learn all aspects of the operations of retail, retired individuals, and families and friends of our volunteers. The volunteers at Sonny’s would have the opportunity to minister to each individual who walks through the door treating each one with dignity, love and respect.
Who is Sonny? God’s Son Jesus Christ.... imagine if Jesus had a nickname from God our Heavenly Father - it could be Sonny. Everything belongs to Him... we give to Sonny’s and Sonny’s gives back to us.
The Logo 🌻
The sunflower as the logo feeds and nourishes life in so many ways - sunflower seeds, sunflower oil, sunflower seed flour... and the sunflower won’t grow in the dark.... it looks in the direction of the sun. We should also keep our focus in the direction of the Son to grow or we will die in the dark.
This is Sonny’s. A place that will nourish others in so many ways.
A need for a building
Sonny’s is at capacity and can not take any more items until we get a building. We need money for a building. Please join us in prayer as we continue moving forward in step with God.
